Our DPBRN grant application has been reviewed
Monday, November 08, 2004

Our NIDCR DPBRN grant application was reviewed October 27, 2004 (see news item below dated July 16, 2004). We received our score, but we do not know how our application ranked compared to all the other applications. This ranking largely determines whether our application gets funded. Therefore, it is possible that we would get funded, but we do not know at this point. The Summary Statement (which details the reviewers' comments) will be released in late December. The NIDCR Council will meet January 28, 2005, after which a decision will be made on whether to fund our application.

We submitted a major application for additional funding for DPBRN
Friday, July 16, 2004

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) announced a request for applications (RFA) to establish and support a dental practice-based research network. DPBRN submitted an application for this on July 16, 2004. This application will be reviewed, along with all the other applications, by a panel of experts on October 27, 2004. It will provide an infrastructure for multiple studies directly related to problems faced in general dental practice. The research topics are related to the every-day practice of dentistry and this research will provide relevant information to situations met in daily dental practice. Practitioners and clinical investigators will be linked together to produce findings that are immediately useful to practitioners and patients in dental practice. The projects to be designed will draw on the insight and experience of practicing dentists. In other words, the research agenda will be rooted in problems faced in every-day practice and you will help in identifying and designing the research projects! Practitioner-investigators, all of whom must be in the daily practice of dentistry, will be at the forefront of clinical research! You can participate in all or only a small number of the projects that are envisioned over a 7-year period. The success of these new initiatives will be dependent on active participation by practicing clinicians, and this research is designed to be of direct benefit to daily clinical practice. If you would like to join us in this exciting new initiative, please enroll by clicking the “Enrollment/Join” button at the left of this screen.
